Apple Picking in Upstate New York

Apple picking is one of those quintessential fall activities that I always intend on doing, yet somehow always manage to miss the season of.  So, this past Sunday it was extra special when a couple of friends and I hopped on a train headed to Harvest Moon Orchard in upstate New York.  We arrived to a pretty picked through bunch of trees, but after a bit of searching, were lucky enough to find a fairly untouched area toward the back of the farm that had trees overflowing with perfectly ripe apples. There's something invigorating about searching for and picking your own food - it's such a foreign concept nowadays and something that I wish I could be more intentional about doing whenever the opportunity presents itself.

We walked away from the day with a ton of Mutsu (Crispin) apples, a sweeter green apple that is a cross between Golden Delicious and Indo.  And although I haven't quite decided what to do with all of the apples now taking over my kitchen, this recipe for a caramel apple dutch baby is in the running.

35mm Film // Coney Island

I havent decided whether or not it's a disservice to Coney Island to present it in black and white, considering the fact that it is dripping in color.  Nonetheless, it was fun to pick up a film camera again. It was my first time shooting with my new canon AE-1 after having to come to terms with the fact that my nikon was on it's last leg.

Also, cotton candy on the beach? Only at Coney Island.

Harpa Concert Hall - Iceland

On the edge of Iceland's city of Reykjavik lies Harpa, a concert hall and cultural center that lures in the crowds with its uniqueness.  With sharp angles and assymetrical windows that reflect different shades of light, it is a true art form.

We were so fascinated by it, that we found ourselves there on two different occasions.

Backstage at Dion Lee

Shooting backstage for the Dion Lee NYFW show was three hours of an adrenaline rush.  A model, having her hair, makeup, and nails done at one time, another slipping into her first look and making minor adjustments, while all around, photographers buzz, capturing the moment.  It was a fun, crazy, and awe-inspiring evening to be a part of.
