Sorrento is home to Limoncello and I managed to come and go not only without a sip, but without a picture of the famous drink. Aside from that small mishap, Sorrento is the perfect Italian beach town and we had so much fun exploring it's alleyways and taking in the breathtaking views. We never passed up the opportunity to eat seafood and may have enjoyed a little too much of the gelato.
The Vatican
The Vatican Museum is right up there with the Pantheon and Coliseum- you just can't pass it up in Rome. Since I was here a year ago, it's been really cool to see everything again because I notice things this time that I never would have seen a year ago. For instance this time in the Vatican Museum, I wasn't as focused on the major pieces, but took a look around at the more subtle things such as the carved wooden shutters, the beautiful blue tiled floors, and those seemingly random pieces of art that don't even possess a description. [& this time I snuck a picture of the Sistine Chapel]
Capri
One word to describe this little island: breathtaking. We explored the little town, ate lunch at an incredible restaurant overlooking the bay, walked a mile past gorgeous homes, incredible views, and quaint entryways, swam in the Adriatic Sea, and took a boat around the island. I can't believe we only have 10 days left here. I'm not ready to leave.
The Weekend
...of the weekend. where we spent time in Sorrento, Capri, and Pompei. It was absolutely breathtaking & was a wonderful reminder of how thankful I am to be experiencing all of this.
Park Picnics
Coming to Europe and expecting to save money is like saying you're only going to watch one episode of How I Met Your Mother... [at least for Jordan and me] it just probably isn't going to happen. So, in an effort to stretch our funds over the next two weeks, last Wednesday we opted for a picnic in the park instead of going out to dinner. With a giant bowl of salad and a bottle of wine, it was quite possibly one of my favorite nights in Rome- the park was full of life and the weather out that night could not have been more perfect.
