Atlanta Getaway

September 29, 2011

this past weekend, some friends and i went to atlanta for a night. it was a mini escape, a mix between excitement and relaxation and everything wonderful.

we couldn't leave town without a stop at The Varsity, an atlanta tradition and favorite. we did it just like the folks did in the 1920s and enjoyed our meal via the drive-in, where we were sure to order their famous frosted orange shake to accompany our traditional fast food eats. scrumptious. and highly recommended. other highlights: West Egg for breakfast, and a stop by Criminal Records to get our music fill

The Basics in Birmingham

September 21, 2011

I am in love with this place, this new apartment. My roommate, Emma, and i have enjoyed homemade breakfasts with friends, had a taco party to celebrate the 22nd birthday of our friend brittany, and bought a fish, which emma quickly named fishie... creativity at it's finest! i think a lot of my love for this apartment stems from the fact that it is our senior year and i know that every day, every moment spent, should not be taken for granted, as our time as friends all in one city is coming to a close.

On another note, highly recommended music of the moment: heartbeats by jose gonzalez never saw the point by the cults eskimo kiss by the kooks drive all night by needtobreathe you are the best thing by ray lamontagne

Home-Cooking in Georgia

September 20, 2011

it wouldn't be a proper trip home without my mom sharing her love for cooking with anyone and everyone who visits our home. so a couple weekends ago, when all of my friends came home with me, there was an abundance of food and baked goods awaiting us at every meal [and throughout the entire day]. from burgers and salmon and pork loin to cous cous cranberry salad, edamame salad, and pinto bean salad to corn on the cob and shrimp cocktail, delectable french toast, eggs, and fruit platters, to blondies, cookies, and homemade ice cream sandwiches [which i highly highly recommend making. you can find the recipe here], there was not a moment spent without something on the table. and it is for that very reason and so much more, that i love being home.

Water Ways

September 05, 2011

this weekend at home and on the lake with friends was more perfect than i could have ever imagined & by far the best way to start our senior year together. weekends like these are such a wonderful representation of how much our friendships have grown over the years, and [hopefully] a foreshadow of what reunions will be like 5 years from now- full of laughter and time spent completely in the moment. [more pictures to come]
