Call me crazy, but there is something so serene about walking around a cemetery. After work today I picked little lola up and we went for an evening stroll around this oldie of a cemetery in downtown Dublin. I love the oldness mixed with newness combination of the granite headstones, along with the beautiful flowers, trees, and peacefulness. Like I said, you can definitely call me crazy. [Lola liked it.]
Pistacia Vera
Before a long drive north, my mom and I popped into Pistacia Vera to snag some yummy treats for the trip. We have no idea that we would end up getting full tour of the kitchen, but are so thankful that we did. It was amazing to hear about the process, the amount of detail, and the long hours that go into making these small pastries on a daily-basis. The in-house kitchen allows the bakery to serve their pastries fresh from the racks- I'm convinced you can taste the difference.
Ohio Surprises
my mom and i did a bit of exploring in down town columbus last night. we came across some quaint antiques that will fit perfectly in my apartment, bought some supplies for a couple DIY projects, and i finally found a small duffel that i have been searching for for so long. and after all of our shopping successes, we came across a gem of an italian retsuarant, Basi Italia and absolutely fell in love with the food. i admit, ohio is proving to be quite a nice place to spend this summer.
Italians
These photos didn't make it into any of the other Italy posts & I didn't want to leave them out because they are some of my favorites. I like them because they say a lot about what life in Italy was like on a daily basis: The beautiful things we saw, the dinners we made, the candids of friends, & the history that surrounded us. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I miss Italy. [& promise that i won't post anything else about it for a while]
Ohio
Ohio has been a slightly different experience than Rome. There's definitely no big adventure everyday [unless of course frequent trips to Hobby Lobby count] or incredible italian food at every meal. But aside from that, life here has been good. From enjoying Jeni's ice cream, spending time at bookstores, working on a few crafts, testing out this blueberry cobbler recipe, playing with Lola, taking a cooking class, and enjoying fourth of July fireworks, it's been a good transition back to life here in America.
